As a side project I have been creating these illustrations inspired by impossible architecture and geometry. Taking cues from the game Monument Valley I have started visualizing impossible spaces.
Also creating illustrations for birthstones.
Doing laundry is necessary, even though sometimes we convince ourselves we can survive for one more day without it. Living in NYC having a W&D in your building is basically a myth, let alone in your unit. It really surprises me that there hasn't been more initiatives to make the laundry room experience better, save for a couple of video games and the odd TV or chair, being at the laundromat is possibly one of the most boring chores.
I am trying to propose doing something else with your time while your laundry is being done. I was inspired by the concept of a dine-in theatre and the fact that doing laundry involves a lot of downtime, but not enough that you can go anywhere.
This concept 'laundry room'/lounge/movie theatre hybrid would allow you to make use of your time, you can catch up on work in a comfortable environment, watch the nightly showing or socialize, while doing your chores.
Instead of the usual coin operated machines, I propose a ticket operated system, assuring everyone has a machine? Maybe there is an intermission so you can switch your clothes to the dryer?
